FBCJ Youth Ministry is going back to Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters camp. I know it seems too early to be talking about the Summer, but these dates are quickly approaching. At SWO, students will receive out-of-this-world teaching, attend relevant break out sessions, engage in small group discipleship, experience high-energy recreation, and more. This will be an incredible, life-impacting week for all who go. Total cost is only $200. Spots are limited, but you can reserve one by turning in your $75 deposit as early as this week. Below are a few important dates for you to mark on your calendar:
- March 13 – Snowbird fundraiser meal at FBCJ following the worship service
- March 23 – $75 deposit due
- May 11 – Final payment due
- June 13-18 – SWO Camp
Please contact Ben with any questions. This will be a great week!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Yes Christmas has come and gone, but Surrender (FBCJ Youth Ministry’s annual discipleship retreat) is right around the corner. Our group will once again get away to a remote cabin in the mountains of Pigeon Forge with only their Bible and one another for an intense 4-day weekend of worship, fellowship, and time in the Word.
Dates: February 12-15
Cost: $75 if paid by January 27th. $90 if paid January 28 or later.
Waiver Forms: Since it’s a new year, everyone will need to have a new Waiver Form notarized and turned in.
Details: We will leave from Jacksboro around 4pm on the 12th and be back by 3pm on Monday the 15th. We will have an exciting and knowledgable guest speaker and a high leader:student ratio. Most of our time will be spent at the cabin, but we will spend a few hours on Sunday at Wilderness at the Smokies.
Ever been to a corn maze? Ever been to one at night? How about destroyed a pumpkin?
Well, on October 17th you will get your chance as the FBCJ Youth group will head on down to Oakes Farm in Corryton, TN for a fun day of activities. The cost per student is $9. Please contact Ben at (423) 562-5168 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
This will be a great night of fun and fellowship. Students will watch a movie outside in Ben and Dana’s backyard. We’ll have s’mores, popcorn, candy and drinks. Bring a blanket or lawn chair; a few will be provided but not enough for everyone.
Movie and time to be determined. Contact Ben (email@example.com/562-5168) for further questions or information.
This year’s Back to School bash is going to be a doozy. Springdale Community Church (home church of Surrender guest speaker Matt Joiner) in Louisville, KY has invited us to participate in this fun and memorable event. The early registration deadline is August 9. Late registration deadline is August 12.
Dates: August 15-16
What: It will be exactly what the name says: an exciting time of messiness and water combined with games!
Cost: Early registration – $35; Late Registration – $50
Details: We will leave for Louisville around 11am on Saturday, August 15 for the actual Messy Games event which starts at 3:00. We will spend the night in a hotel close by. On Sunday morning we will eat breakfast at the hotel, attend worship at SCC, eat lunch, and head back to Jacksboro.
Please contact Ben at (423) 562-5168 or firstname.lastname@example.org for any further questions.
When: Next Tuesday, June 7, from 11-2pm. We will meet at the church and ride together.
This is our annual visit to our wonderful friends at Rainbow Acres Adult Home. We have a great opportunity to serve and show the love of Christ, plus have a lot of fun.
Please feel free to bring a game to play. Or if you have an idea or ministry you’d like to lead for the residents, let Ben know.
Join us Wednesday night as we will gather with other area churches for this exciting worship service. We will have our church meal at 5pm like always and leave for New Life Ministries at 6:15pm. We hope to be back by 8:30.
This summer on Tuesdays at 12pm, students will meet in the Youth Room for lunch and a discussion on the purpose of their teenage years and how to use them to the fullest. Alex and Brett Harris, who are teens themselves, have written a book titled Do Hard Things: A Teenage Rebellion Against Low Expectations. As we take a look at this book, the Harris twins will teach and motivate teens to combat the idea of adolescence as a vacation from responsibility and to redefine the teen years as the launching pad of life. Then they map out five powerful ways teens can respond for personal and social change for the glory of God!
As part of the Student Leadership Challenge, youth will have at least two opportunities to serve in the community. On June 10th we will go to Knox Area Rescue Mission (KARM) to feed the homeless. You must be at least 13 to participate and fill out a waiver from KARM. On July 7th students will take a trip to Rainbow Acres where we will make them a meal and spend some quality time with the residents.
Please encourage your student to commit to learn, grow, and serve this summer through Student Leadership.
Join us for this year’s Disciple Now sponsored by the CCYLA and hosted by your very own First Baptist Church Jacksboro!!! The theme this year is “Unleashed” which was inspired by Colossians 1:13 – He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son. We have been unleashed from the domain of darkness through the redemption we have in Jesus Christ so that we might proclaim the glories of God and his kingdom. Let’s use this weekend to be light to Campbell County.
When: April 10-12
What: The majority of the day will be spent at FBCJ for the worship services. On Saturday, students will be split up to do various service projects throughout Jacksboro and La Follette. Friday and Saturday night the girls will stay at Tony and Erica Simpson’s house, while the boys’ location is yet to be determined. Youth leaders and chaperones will be with students at the service projects and host homes.
Cost: $25. This covers everything including the speaker, worship band, food, t-shirt, and more. No extra money is required or needed.
Questions: Please contact Ben at email@example.com or at the church office if you would like further information.
This Summer FBCJ Youth will be going to the D3 Youth Conference for the first time ever!! D3 is a rock solid student camp put on by the faculty of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where I, Ben, went to seminary. I have great memories from mine and Dana’s time there and can testify that everything they do is top notch. The focus of the camp is on discipleship. Each student picks a track they will follow throughout the week: Worldview, Missions, or Leadership. On Wednesday we will participate in a service project, and on Friday we will visit the Creation Museum before traveling home to Jacksboro.
Date: June 22-26 (We will leave Monday morning and be back late Friday night)
Location: Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY. All activities will take place here except the service project and the Creation Museum. The Creation Museum is located in Petersberg, KY near Cincinnati, OH.
Who: D3 is for those who will have finished 8-12th grade.
Cost: $175 covers the cost of the conference, service project, Creation Museum, hotel, and the majority of meals. Students will need additional money for 3-4 meals as we travel and visit the Creation Museum. We will hold a fundraiser for D3 on Sunday, March 8 immediately following the morning worship service. Please make every effort for your child to attend since this will help with your cost tremendously.
Questions: If there is anything I haven’t covered that you need to know before you register, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the church office at (423) 562-5168.
Money is due no later than May 13, but I need each student to register by March 18. Please click here to register online
